Hertfordshire Big Band was formed in 2003 after various members of the Hertfordshire Concert Band were lamenting in the pub that there were no local big bands we could join to play big band music we had previously played in bands when we were younger. After some discussions we realised we had enough players to form a band, and so the Hertfordshire Big Band was born.
We are a 16 piece band, consisting of 5 saxophones, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones and a rhythm section.
Hertfordshire Big Band perform regularly for both public concerts and private functions throughout Hertfordshire and surrounding areas, details of upcoming concerts can be seen on our Events Page.
We are currently looking for extra players and vocalists to strengthen our ensemble so please get in touch if you are interested in joining us. We rehearse on Monday evenings at the Sea Cadets Unit in Welwyn Garden City.
